Still working through last month's photos. Thanks Jane, Linda, and Eric for feedback on the color version and suggesting B&W. B&W is an improvement I believe. Taken on the slow creep through Cades Cove.
As mentioned in my post in the extras album, thank you so much for all the comments and favs on the Smokies blue hour shot -- it's been the most well received of my images to date, I believe. I really appreciate it.
Trees take on such an interesting character in winter. I summer their leaves give them shape and colour, in winter they reveal their underlying structure which is sometimes quite different. This one has a lovely shape and stands out wonderfully against the background scenery.
B&W is perfect for this shot which contrasts the dark tree against the soft background. I love trees in winter when you can really see their beautiful shape!
Have always loved Cades Cove! I grew up at the foot of the Smokies and have fond memories of family picnics as a child, dates in high school in college (I have a couple of photos of my husband back in our dating days in the 1970's in the Cove), and now as an adult with a greater appreciation of this little piece of Creation. Lovely lone tree shot... it is a blessed tree to be nestled in such a lovely Cove!
@taffy If you have Facebook, you might like to check out Deb Campbell photography... she is in the Cove most every day taking photos... love her work, too!
I just took a look at Deb Campbell's "New Images" which are all fall colors in the Smoky Mountains, in particular many from the places we went like Cades Cove and Clingman's Dome. Seems next time we have to wake up super early and see sunrises! And she saw deer and bears and elk and all that as well!
