Bahai Temple 1 by taffy

Bahai Temple 1

Junko and I had to disappointingly cancel our planned photo trip to Washington DC. But all was not lost as we had a great day in Evanston and north suburbs eventually ending at the Bahai Temple which is a photographer's dream. I'll probably post from this for the next few days...not DC monuments, but it's what I have for now. This was taken with a fisheye lens and processed in Aurora software.
Junko posted her end-of-shoot night shot where you can see the temple glowing. Still working on mine -- that will likely be tomorrow's. Here's Junko's:

And an alternative of the sunset with the temple behind me:

@jyokota Photo 1 from our evening shoot. Probably will be more over the next few days if my camera goes in for repair! What a great day, even if not the original plan.

Beautiful shot and such a gorgeous temple. It looks as though it is floating on a magic carpet.

Great architectural shot- heard they'll have a big snow coming this Saturday (?)

Wow, looks like a space ship. Very cool effect.
January 22nd, 2016
This is beautiful! Super focus and symmetry!
January 22nd, 2016
This is so amazingly beautiful, more so for your unique way of seeing it! I've flown over it on every trip to (or is it out of) Chicago, but I've never seen it from this gorgeous perspective!
January 22nd, 2016
This must be the best balanced and skilfully caught subject! fav
January 22nd, 2016
Fun way to present this architecture and the reflection in the window brings live to it.
January 22nd, 2016
love the perspective...balanced...fav

That fish eye lens really adds interest in architectural captures! I'm looking forward to seeing your Bahai series . . .
January 22nd, 2016
Soft and gorgeous with fisheye adding an almost surreal feeling. Polished & clean like something just landed from outer space.

Awesome, fav

Love this Taffy! I am learning a lot from your fisheye shots! This building really suits this effect! Beautiful image! Fav! What a shame you had to cancel the DC visit.

Awesome!
January 22nd, 2016
oh good; I was hoping that you weren't going to get stuck. This is surreal with the curves.
January 22nd, 2016
A wonderful fish-eye image for this gorgeous building. The fish eye makes the stairs appear as though they are draping, like a graceful skirt. Bummer about missing Washington... maybe Evanston is a consolation prize?;)
January 22nd, 2016
Oh wow Taffy, an awesome shot!!! Just beautiful, look at those lines - love it!!! And much better to not be around DC right now, of course...

Super shot, this is a great building for your fisheye! I saw a drone shot of this a few weeks ago from directly above. It is an amazing building!

Wow, that's beautiful!

January 22nd, 2016
This is just fantastic. A very big fave, and a missed opportunity made into a positive one.
January 22nd, 2016
You make these shots look easy but I'm sure they're not at all! Love this one!
January 22nd, 2016
Fabulous. Fav
January 22nd, 2016
I love this wide angle view of it. Very different to Junko's which is also beautiful.
January 22nd, 2016
@paulaw I find that I get it right about 1 in 10 times. There is so much that can go wrong with a fish-eye, and it's so easy to be off by only an inch and mess up the shot. It is fun to use, though. Thanks as always for your visits and comments.
January 22nd, 2016
Well all the ones you post look great! I fear I wouldn't have the patience, I'm a bit too snap happy!
January 22nd, 2016
Tom
Wonderful fisheye capture. great colors, the steps seem to float.
January 23rd, 2016
Nice shot- too bad about your cancelled trip but looks like you found a great "instead of" trip!
January 23rd, 2016
Fish eye rocks again!
January 23rd, 2016
That is so cool! I was wondering about you being in D.C. as I watched the snow "disaster" play out on TV. Actually you would have captured some very unique shots of the monuments that would not be easily reproduced. Opportunities lost.
January 23rd, 2016
@stray_shooter We did think about that, but in the end, the unique opportunity potentially came without power/heat and we'd just have been two more people needing help. And could have been stuck for awhile. So disappointing not to be able to get the shots, but a wiser decision in the end.
January 23rd, 2016
Cool use of the fish eye! The temple looks like it's ready for lift-off!
January 23rd, 2016
Gorgeous.
January 23rd, 2016
To me, it almost looks like a helmet of a giant warrior, photographed from this perspective. The fisheye does magical things to subjects, and in this case - makes it look full of mystery and dominate the scene.
January 23rd, 2016
Love the fish eye effect
January 23rd, 2016
beautiful temple - we have one in Sydney - I must visit have not been there in a long time
January 24th, 2016
I love this photo with your fisheye. Would love to take photos with you but would be so far behind. I agree with Maggiemae above, this photo is perfectly balanced. FAV
