Thanks for our enthusiastic response to the lone traveler -- very much appreciated!
I returned to the park sculpture I've posted in the past thinking it might be interesting for the flashofred b&w theme. Light cooperated -- even some clouds. Processed in Photomatix (3 bracketed) and blur added in picmonkey. I wanted to emphasize the path through the arches.
Interesting in that although the frames take you through the image, as there is no focal point there, by eye then switches to the tower on the left and then travels through the image again. So a strong clash between the vector provided by the frames and the tower as a focal point.
Works a treat in several ways Taffy. The pathway through the angular sculptures is a great point of initial focus, then when the eye wanders around there's a perfectly framed view of a tall building. Good use of blur too. Definitely a fave for me.
worked perfectly. i love this multi-opening passageway. i like the tallest building pointing up at the corner of the first frame. that's nice positioning. like a candle flame.
Thanks for the advice. Am struggling through layers at the moment -- working on canvas sizing and how to create a layer (got stuck -- could create duplicates of a photo, but had to start over and bring in two as layers to do foreground and background. But it's fun! Yep, for this shot it was either massive distortion or no corners, or walking home, getting super WA, walking back and hoping the weather stayed good enough. I went with cropped corners! Thanks for all your help today!
Fantastic capture. I recognizedd this, as you said, from one of your earlier posts but you have processed it beautifully and it does emphasise the path through
Hello Taffy R . Just to let you know I have included this photograph in the Final 6 of the February Town 2016 Competition. Many Thanks for entering and Good Luck. Regards Stephen .
I Love: the composition, the sharpness in the center and blur around edges, all the shades of black, white, and gray, the way the striking tall black building points right at the top left corner of the front rectangle of the sculpture. A photo I can wander around in a long time.
@bankmann Oh my gosh -- of course!!! I'm so flattered!!! Do you need a jpg version? Do you want me to put my watermark on it and send it to you that way? How can I help...you've made my day!
@taffy
Thank you! :-) i'm going to use it in a presentation file. source, copyright and credit will be logged in the notes field for reference. If you want to provide a discreetly watermarked file, i won't mind.
of the sculpture. Like seeing through a maze.
Many Thanks for all the entries and for all those who voted.
Taffy R , if you could just let me know if you would like to run March Town 2016 or would you like me to run this competition again.
Once Again Congratulations.
Kindest Regards
Stephen
