Between Chicago & St Louis by taffy

Between Chicago & St Louis

View from the train window as we passed through a winter storm heading across the prairie. Great time here in St Louis with work going well and very fun photo and visiting time with @rosiekerr -- including a lesson in PS tonight! Will look forward to going through hundreds of photos on the 5 1/2 hour train ride home tomorrow morning.
Thanks for your comments on the Arch. We didn't go up into it (not open at the moment but I'm too claustrophobic to even consider it!).
A winter wonderland ...... have just walked home from work into gusty and hot NW winds, this looks so appealing :)

Those very words, "View from the train window...heading across the prairie..." evoke images like this that could be over 100 years old! Just beautiful!

Looks very bleak out there! Great image! Sounds like you are having fun with Rosie plus a lesson in PS! I have booked myself in with my Pro photographer friend Simon to sort out the backups for me on the Mac plus doing layers and other editing in PS! Much needed tuition!

Thanks for "training" it down to the Gateway City... I really enjoyed our photographic jaunts and visit. :) As I said last evening, this wintery landscape is really nice, in a minimalistic, wintery way. Love the lone tree and the bleak feel. Safe travels!

I love that feeling of distance and isolation in this shot. We never get snow so a landscape like this is quite fascinating.

Lovely minimalist shot.
February 27th, 2016

Works well in B&W, I would love to see this one with really bright burnt out high contrast white.
February 28th, 2016
@pools82 Thanks Mike -- I'm going to give it a try. This is not even b&w -- the color of the actual 'color' photo, and I do think higher contrast and whiter whites would be a stronger image. If it does work, I'll either replace or post on Flickr. Thanks for the recommendation.

There is a sense of bleak loneliness here.
