Van Gogh painted three versions of "The Bedroom" - one each now hanging in museums in Amsterdam, Chicago, and Paris. All three form a current exhibit at the Art Institute where, next to each other, you can see his subtle and no so subtle variations. This is the one on loan from Paris. @ukandie1 and I had the chance to see the exhibit this week - a joy.
Absolutely fabulous lighting! It's all about that amazing painting, and what a pleasure it must have been to go see the exhibit! OK...I'm seriously jealous! I LOVE that museum!
What a buzz to see a Van Gogh up close. I like the way you've framed this shot with the darkness and silhouettes in the foreground, very atmospheric. I don't think we're allowed to use a camera in galleries. Shhhhh, but I'm very tempted to get myself a teensy-weensy camera like the DxO1 to try it.
You would not be allowed to take photos in a musium here I am sure. This makes this image very special to me. I love the way you have caught the people looking at the painting. Great capture! Have a lovely time in Colorado with your family. Is that where you were born Taffy?
Great shot. Very nice to see all three paintings together. In my mis-spent youth I visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam - back then I didn't appreciate what I was seeing.
This sort of retrospective doesn't happen very often due to the logistics involved and the insurance problems, so I'm delighted for both you and Andie that you got to see it. Thanks for sharing... and making us all jealous.
Super capture. I like how the painting is highlighted. You were lucky to be able to get a picture, most art exhibitions don't allow any form of photography at all!
Off to Colorado...family time...
Bon Voyage! See you soon!
