Visiting Chicago from Paris by taffy

Visiting Chicago from Paris

Van Gogh painted three versions of "The Bedroom" - one each now hanging in museums in Amsterdam, Chicago, and Paris. All three form a current exhibit at the Art Institute where, next to each other, you can see his subtle and no so subtle variations. This is the one on loan from Paris.
@ukandie1 and I had the chance to see the exhibit this week - a joy.
Fun picture within picture. I like ve the light on the Van Gogh and the person on right...wish the viewer on left. Wasn't quite so dark

Absolutely fabulous lighting! It's all about that amazing painting, and what a pleasure it must have been to go see the exhibit! OK...I'm seriously jealous! I LOVE that museum!

Off to Colorado...family time...

@taffy Thanks heaps! Must take it in! Mother's Day brunch and then the museum would be my choice!

Bon Voyage! See you soon!

What a buzz to see a Van Gogh up close. I like the way you've framed this shot with the darkness and silhouettes in the foreground, very atmospheric. I don't think we're allowed to use a camera in galleries. Shhhhh, but I'm very tempted to get myself a teensy-weensy camera like the DxO1 to try it.

superb image of a superb image...wow
April 16th, 2016
You would not be allowed to take photos in a musium here I am sure. This makes this image very special to me. I love the way you have caught the people looking at the painting. Great capture! Have a lovely time in Colorado with your family. Is that where you were born Taffy?
April 16th, 2016
Great shot. Very nice to see all three paintings together. In my mis-spent youth I visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam - back then I didn't appreciate what I was seeing.

@jack4. John, oh dear, it's actually on loan to us til may 10th. It was hanging on the same wall as this one.
April 16th, 2016
This sort of retrospective doesn't happen very often due to the logistics involved and the insurance problems, so I'm delighted for both you and Andie that you got to see it. Thanks for sharing... and making us all jealous.
April 16th, 2016
@pamknowler thanks Pam. No, I was born and raised in Chicago. My brother and his family and my mom live on Colorado.
April 16th, 2016

April 16th, 2016
Super capture. I like how the painting is highlighted. You were lucky to be able to get a picture, most art exhibitions don't allow any form of photography at all!
