Hummingbird Dreams v2 by taffy

Hummingbird Dreams v2

Thanks for your great response to yesterday's photo. They were wonderful to read. Jane noticed, though, that the feet looked off. They were tucked up for flying but were so close to the branch it looked like the hummer should be sitting on it. Jane suggested raising the bird, but since I'd processed it in textures, I didn't have a way to do that without starting over. I decided to use a different shot and position the bird higher in the image. Thanks Jane - it was a useful exercise for me!

Added: Version 3 to adjust tones to be more like original

Yes. Lol you could have slid the moon into the y and had the hummer who flew over the moon. . I like this a lot

Oh and if you had him jumping over the on you could place him so the light on his chest seemed to be coming from the moon...just playing

I am loving these shots! Wonderful processing Taffy! I must get my act together and start learning how to do the layers! You are inspiring me! Just need to get rid of the cotton wool stuffing my head! Lol! Fav of course!

It's lovely. I'm favoring yesterday's, (if someone pinned me down and MADE me choose...)

I think I'm with Francoise as I really like the tones of the other but this is also beautiful.

Awesome shot

It really works well, your photo processing is an art in itself.

Cool processing

Lovely capture!

@bella_ss @francoise I agree with you both. I do like this one, but it wasn't my first choice. I couldn't figure out how I got to the other tones. I may try for one more version to see if I can sort it out. I just got tired of it last night! Your comments inspire me to try again!

gorgeous image

I really don't know which I prefer so faved all of them!
July 21st, 2016
You are very clever to be able to do all this - do you use 'layers'?
July 21st, 2016
@maggiemae I can use layers when working in Topaz Textures, but when I try to do this in PS, I confuse myself so much that the use of layers and which ones dominate turn out to be luck more than skill. My goal is to learn to do this in PS and I'm getting the concept down as Textures is more intuitive. Thanks for the visit and kind comment. I didn't feel clever at the start but I made a breakthrough last night in figuring out how to save work so I can go back into it again!

This is gorgeous Taffy!

Very nice edit. I noticed the feet in the first one but, to my eye, it felt as though he was flying in front of the branch, so it didn't bother me. Both shots are beautiful, but I like the tones in the first one slightly better. I am having trouble getting a good selection of my image, to put it on a better, less distracting, background - but it is probably distraction and not enough time to focus on it. So fun to see your editing "learning curve" flattening out. :)

Nice processing. You are so good at this.

The work you've been doing on textures is very impressive. The colors and lighting are striking.
July 22nd, 2016
@rosiekerr For some reason, layers makes so much more sense to me in Textures than in PS.

Gorgeous!

I like this photo a lot more than the previous one, Taffy. I love all the detail you captured in the moon. Last one looks blurry to me. I am amazed at all you can do with your photos. FAV

You've been doing such creative work, Taffy! I love how you have fine tuned the composing of your creations with layers. As for that hummer -- pretty strong to carry that moon!
