Shadows in the Union Station Portico by taffy

Shadows in the Union Station Portico

Thank you so much for your comments/favs that helped my posts yesterday visit PP briefly! I took this from one end of the portico in the color version of the full building in yesterday's post. One of my favorite buildings in the city to photograph.
Color version in extras album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2017-02-03
Such a strong statement piece! I'm seeing in your pictures that architecture shines in B&W! Lovely! (You certainly get out and get your exercise!)

I like this shot very much too for the same reasons but on balance prefer the colour version this time.

Great shadows and angle.

Architecture in B & W, a winner every time!

@salza I think living in Chicago is what led to the 'style' I eventually developed in my photography. I can't go for a walk anywhere without seeing form and structure!

perfect timing with the shadows, love all the repeat patterns

Wonderful capture...Fav

Beautiful composition and great shadows.
February 4th, 2017
wonderful lines and shadows

I love this and much prefer it to the colour image. I think the elimination of the blue sky in this version helps me to see the lines and shadows even clearer - does that make sense? Fav!

perfect! really great tones.

One of my favourite kinds of architecture. Last year we visited Berlin and went to the 1936 Olympic Stadium, which is also a pillared walkway design at the outer edges. Just wonderful. The repeating patterns always appeal to me. (Maybe to the bits of me that wishes I were ordered and tidy but am so not!!)

Such a different feel...stately, magestic and I like every it too
February 5th, 2017
Love the contrast in this, it looks like a magnificent building.

It is always interesting to see another photographers perspective. I have so many shots taken from here, but I find the street photographer part of me has me angling towards the doors, or a more central view waiting for that person to pop out into my shot. I really like this angle, great shadows!
February 5th, 2017
Lovely architecture shot... I really like the depth of the image
February 5th, 2017
Love this one too.
February 5th, 2017
Great shadows!
February 5th, 2017
I can feel the weight of the columns in the winter light.
February 5th, 2017
@ukandie1 Had to smile as I worked hard to be patient waiting for people to leave the scene!
February 5th, 2017
Brilliant perspective shot, Taffy. This is reminiscent of Sydney's Central Station portico. Chicago's is about 20 years younger though...they still built them to last :)

Fab lines and shade.

The afternoon light adds so much to this scene. Such an impressive structure, photographed wonderfully by you!
