Thank you for your wonderful comments and favs for yesterday's shot at Grand Central! Today's is an homage to @michaelelliott who was a role model on 365 when I started on the site January 1, 2013. Like many of us, I studied his work, eventually became a photo friend, and Junko and I have been able to get together with Michael in his city, as you've seen, for one or two photowalks every year. Here's another in our series from this past week. Michael is generous in taking us to favorite spots so some of you may recognize this one from his 2016 album -- https://365project.org/michaelelliott/more-365/2016-03-04
Notice the difference the lens makes -- I was using 24mm, he used 55mm -- in addition to processing.
Junko's found here (to be added): https://365project.org/jyokota/365/2017-03-04 [note her square crop]
Three images, same scene, three different interpretations.
So much to look at in this shot. I love the fire escapes. I have a bit of a thing about fire escapes.
The lanterns across the street make a colourful addition.
I loved looking at the three versions of this view! So interesting to see the differences - thanks for the explanation! How wonderful to go out with Michael again to his favourite spots! That's the power of 365 that such great photographers are willing to share their knowledge! So looking forward to seeing you again in Chicago Taffy where I know that once again you will be taking us to your favourite places! Fav!
Brilliant to see the three images. Yours is super, and how cool that you can get together with Michael. It must be a treat to find the right places to get the best shots and perspectives. Wonderful.
Awesome shot and great vantage point! You and your photos have always been an inspiration to me. I've been feeling a void since I stopped shooting and posting on a regular basis so I'm taking the opportunity jump back in. Thanks for the encouragement.
It never ceases to amaze me how different 'eyes' capture the same (general) scene so that the shot looks and feels quite different. This is a stunning street shot which sets the Chinatown scene very well.
Brings back memories! I've walked around there as a college student and when my son was a college student! I wonder if I could find the little restaurant we used to go to- hidden on this quirky little back street. It would never have gotten stars for ambiance but the food was phenomenal and the locals favored it above those on the main street. Great shot!
Missed this when it first posted, but I like the cross-references to the other views, plus the POV for the entire scene. As an extra bonus, the lanterns are excellent. Wonderful street scene.
The lanterns across the street make a colourful addition.
Great photo Taffy.
