The Rookery is the gift that keeps on giving. Since today was a rainy one and I didn't love any of my indoor attempts (chocolate chip cookies, some tulips), I went back to process more photos from our tour. This one was fun (and a little challenging) to figure out how to process as I wanted to bring out the four contrasting structures in come coherent way. Hoping the brown tones serve as a link to the different patterns.
I love the copery tones. Wondering if I should stand on my head - not sure if I am looking up or down! But if feels like being inside a huge shell. Fascinating image.
A lot going on I agree but it makes your brain try to work out what's going on here! A wonderful image showing all the textures and shapes leading up to that glorious staircase! I am so pleased we could include this in our trip this year. A real highlight! Fav!
I was so interested to see that the great architect Frank Lloyd Wright had a hand in building the Rookery, it is the most amazing building! As far as the eye can see in this photo, there are incredible artistic designs, oh my. Fav!
I think you have done a good job of calming the business of this shot. For me your emphasis on the brown railing on the right side of your shot gives my eye somewhere to start and follow! I have not touched my Rookery shots for much the same reason, I want to have the time to work on them properly.
You've certainly achieved your objective in this shot Taffy. I particulaly like the way the right-hand swirl of contrasting patterns and curved lines starts the eye off on an exploration of the rest of the shot. Excellent use of the brown bannisters throughout the image.
TTT !!! Congratulations -- so deserved! It's a wonderful shot that captures both the classic look up the entire stair well, along with the long, winding rail on the side.
@pamknowler@rosiekind@jyokota@bill_fe What great messages to wake up to today!!!! Thank you!
Pam and Junko, I was clearly in good company and Chicago really 'shone' in TT. Reminders of a totally fun week of photography and play. Rosie, if only your lens hadn't broken...
Sure I'll add another fav to this fantastic shot. You have out done yourself with this one!! Amazing. Congrats on #1 of TT, you really deserve that !!!
