Calder's Beast by taffy

Calder's Beast

Standing in and empty Federal Square, surrounded by Mies van der Rohe's architecture framing the Calder sculpture -- it doesn't get better than this for architectural photography!
Thank you for your lovely comments and favs on the images this past week as part of Pam and Rosie's visit to Chicago. Such fun!
Striking!

Stunning picture and perspective.

If it wasn't for the hint of yellow in the office buildings I'd swear it was a selective coloring shot. Love that pop of red.

LOVE the dramatic contrast and sharp focus! You portray the Calder so gracefully.

Where is everyone?...such a fabulous composition and the colors pop off the page

@jgpittenger Haha...cloned right out -- but they weren't in interesting places and there were only a few. Even for scale, they didn't do anything for the overall composition.

Oh, this is just fabulous, and in an empty square! You may remember, from way back, I posted an image of the Calder sculpture at La Défense. Looking back at my image - I don't like my capture, or rather the framing/cropping spoils it - but it's interesting to compare the two sculptures.

@jamibann What you can do, I think, and it should work: Call up your photo in its album and copy the URL from the top, rather than Ross's link. Then we can click the URL to get to your album. I'd like to see it!

Very striking image. Went off to look up more about it and discovered it is called Flamingo. Can't quite get my head around how it is a flamingo........but Calder's Beast? Oh yes! That works for me! It's a great colour scheme against the building, isn't it?

May 3rd, 2017
Quite extraordinary. Wonderful contrasts between the bright red and the b&w buildings, and between the curved lines of the sculpture and the angular lines of the buildings.
