I finally experimented with my ND-6 filter to allow long exposure even during midday. There were substantial waves so the filter provides a way to create a different feel. I look forward to using it to photograph fountains in Chicago...not sure what else it will work well for on Beaver Island.
We just had a speaker at our photo club talk about this and that was one thing she brought out about long exposure in mid day- how it smoothed everything out and made it seem like there was no sun at all. Nice shot!
Beautiful! Yes - love nd filters and wish I'd brought mine to Chicago... are there no boats at the island? Long exposure of a canoe, kayak or row boat pulled onto the sand makes for a lovely moody shot... if there are rocks near shore that's the water swirls around...
So much kit to come to grips with. It would all be beyond me. Maybe if I view and pay attention here on 365 for long enough, I would learn something and be ready to take on my first proper camera!
This scene is simple but there is so much depth to that sky, in a gentle sort of way.
Wow Taffy - this would have been such a lovely photo for the b&w18 challenge if it had only been taken one day later. It was a bit daunting to choose a theme - and I didn't know if it was at all suitable -so seeing this is excellent. It's just lovely! Cheers Rob
