We (brother, S-I-L, Jim, me) went for a walk in the neighborhood, up to Fulton Street which some of you may remember from last winter. The meat packing and distribution centers are pretty much tone, replaced by upscale restaurants, bars, and office/residential buildings. These guys were working about 8 floors up on one of the in-progress construction sites.
Wonderful silhouette! It must be quite sad to see the Fulton Street area change - you can loose so much of the history of the place! Just wanted to wish you and your family. Happy Thanksgiving Taffy! Enjoy all the wonderful food I am sure you will be sharing! Fav!
Great silhouette and the way the guy hanging off the side looks like he's just leaning against a(n invisible) wall at ground level, calmly doing his routine work, is brilliant.
Yikes! I'm always amazed when I see workers like these. How brave they are! I love your use of black and white for this and, also, that it's not a total silhouette...great light!
Love the silhouettes! The speed of how this neighborhood has changed makes me realize how important it is for us as photographers, whether amateur or professional, need to be out their documenting what we see.
The silhouettes are fab but what I like best is that this immediately creates a sense of height, not by angle of capture but by the information in the image : no detail in the background plus safety harnesses.
The guy hanging on the outside deserves a medal, even though he is securely tied on to the structure! Never in a month of Sundays nor for a million dollars would I do that!
