Navy Pier is home to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and a small amusement park centered around the Ferris wheel and most recently, a botanic garden. The city is working to convert it from tourist trap to a destination for residents and tourists alike. They have a way to go, but there's definitely progress.
Lovely - cities that have a water's edge, be it lake, river or ocean, always have a particular kind of appeal to me.
By the way, is the Shakespeare acted in American or English accents? Probably a bizarre question but I have never heard it spoken in anything other than English.......wondering how the style and pentameter would work with an American accent and with the frequently differing emphasis within sentences.....
It's so interesting to me that this narrow strip of manmade land holds such a wide variety of activities! The Ferris Wheel looks like it's running- are people riding it in this frigid cold weather? I like Francoise's description- it does look like a child's game from this distance.
Very interesting background story Taffy, it sets the scene well. I like the shot, lots to look at and a great pov. It must be awfully cold on that ferris wheel.
Wonderful view from the top of the Hancock. Such a colorful place. For some reason, I am noticing that the ferris wheel seems to be rotating, even in this cold. Amazing.
All those blues and then the orange entrance - reminds me of Luna Park in Sydney - another tourist trap! Funny how these places always seem to have the same colour schemes! Cheers
