Getting back to photographing only this time I had to use my iPhone as the snow was so wet I was willing to risk my phone but not my good camera. Taken on a walk home from meeting a friend from graduate school days. Her daughter is now in graduate school and wasn't born when we last got together.
Beautiful image Taffy - great from an iPhone! Love the reflections in the wet pavement. Not the kind of Day to be wandering round with your camera! Fav!
Interesting that Beryl used the word "uplifting" when I think, though red, on such a day the down-turned lines give this a very somber tone. The picture is really spectacular...different from your warm indoor wood tones, but quite spectacular artistically! Hoping to see it rise to the Top Twenty...it's deserving!
@888rachel Thanks, Rachel! Alas, on top of everything else that was happening, Jim ended up having heart-system surgery (carotid artery blockage) and has one more procedure to go, so we had to postpone. Not our best winter...but just glad they discovered the problem before anything dire happened to him. Life is feeling a bit fragile these days!
@taffy Oh, I'm so sorry Taffy. I hope that Jim recovers well from all the surgery. So glad you caught it early too, so you can both go together later. Africa's not going anywhere.
we're having good weather here for a change, but nothing good to photograph as all are brown and dull. great capture of the wet snow falling. hope it dissipated into nothing afterwards. i hate wet snow when it turns to black ice and make everywhere dangerously icy.
Almost a pencil or charcoal drawing quality to this one. With his head down, you wonder if the guy has even noticed this huge red statue bearing down on him! I like the tiny little golden light through its arches in that doorway.
So sorry you are going through such a difficult time Taffy. I hope things begin to look up soon. Love this picture. Brilliant shot with or without an iPhone. Fav
A great composition - but, having never seen this sculpture before I was mainly interested in it and it's fascinating structure. It appears to be slightly transparent - or maybe I'm just not used to recognizing the effect of falling snow? Very interesting.
How fabulous is this!?! Stunning in B&W with that POP of red in the sleet or snow...wow! FAV. No dissing the iPhone...it did its job with flying colors! :)
@taffy Thanks Taffy for going to that bother. It is an incredible structure - and not at all transparent!! LOL. Chicago, as seen through your eyes, is a city which seems to have so much to offer. Thanks for sharing it with us. :)
@robz Chicago's a great city, with wonderful public art and award winning architecture, plus a river, trains, and a lake and all kinds of neighborhoods. Really, it doesn't get much better than this (except in terms of weather!
@taffy We've only been for very short visits to the tourist spots. Since being on 365 many other places have started to call out. Maybe a longer, America only, trip is in the future. Chicago would definitely be there - but in spring! Cheers and thanks
