Flamingo Sees His Shadow (Except it's his Reflection)
Andie @ukandie1 and I met for an 'Old and New' walking tour, which should have been fun, except the walking tour was of everything we always photograph. We could lead the tour! And it was cold...deceptive as it looked warm, so I was really underdressed. We stayed with it for most of the tour, but peeled off to head home before they turned east and we would have had longer to walk. So, good it got us both out of the house and downtown, and fun to have a meetup as always, but it was nice to be warm!
Love this image Taffy! I am laughing as I know you could give an amazing tour! With your knowledge you could set up in competition to the CAF tours! Lol! Fav for this lovely shot - great pov!
I at least envy you an interesting city to go walking in! I know what you mean about having photographed it all, but I haven't seen this angle...I love that sculpture!
Lovely capture and hardly a soul in sight! Something to do with the temperatures? Great splash of Calder colour and how cool to get the reflections too!
@jgpittenger If it's the white line you're talking about, I think it's the weird cloud. There's one that's quite clear to the left of the building, a long horizontal cloud. The lighting was hard as the sun was coming in right behind the building on the right, and I suspect the cloud lines are exaggerated as I had to use HDR to blend three images as the buildings were almost blacked out to get the sky, or the sky totally blown out to get the buildings. Only the blended image came close to the right lighting, but then the details are more surreal as a result. If it's not the white looking line, I'm not sure which one you mean as I'm not seeing another one on my computer.
Great use of complementary colours to pull out the reflection. I like the dynamic, upward thrust of the lines of the buildings created by the angle of capture too.
Put me down for your tour any day Taffy. The HDR worked very well and the detail in this shot is amazing, those reflections are something else again! I particularly like the persepective you've used. Is the almost absence of people down to the cold weather? I've never been able to get a clear shot of public art in Melbourne (or Geelong).
