We're back in Chicago and I'm always struck by the contrast with Beaver Island, with the two most obvious being space and greenery (and sadly, no night skies!). This is McDonald's recently completed new headquarters building, with a notable 'green' roof - required now for all new buildings in Chicago and encouraged where others can adapt older roofs.
How interesting that they should be doing this! I wonder how many buildings will end up with green roofs? The view from your balcony could change colour! Lol! Such a contrast to BI! You have the best of both worlds! Enjoy!
So is that a specific roofing material of some sort? More and more companies are adopting “green” construction of their buildings, which is a very good thing. Well I know it was hard to leave Beaver Island, thank goodness you have your lovely photos of your time there!
The selective colour emphasises your story very well. And yes, what a contrast to Beaver Island - it must take some getting used to. Sounds like a great policy to me. Roof space must be at a real premium.
Good use of sc to highlight the topic. An interesting idea. I wonder what this view will look like in a few years' time? Hopefully, you'd have to spend more time on the sc if you took another photograph of it!
What a fabulous thing to encourage. I come alive where there is greenery and tend to not thrive so well in cities.......yet currently I live in one too! Lovely that you have the chance to be on the island in Summer and refresh that nature gene.
