Junko, another friend, and I hired a tutor to learn more about LR and PS - both fun and very useful! I did a little practice here, moving the monkey to the right a little and working with different opacity and flow levels to patch where I'd moved him. Next step is getting control over layers (will post my one attempt with instructor in extras - https://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2019-01-12 ).
Does anyone know why the right half of my images are cut off in the 365 feed?
Also nicely done. No evidence at all that you moved the subject. As for your images getting cut off, somebody else was having a similar issue, but I don't remember who. It looks fine on my end (assuming the right half features the gazelle). Are you able to look at it on another device, e.g. a phone? That might eliminate a few possibilities.
@stray_shooter I can see all of it if I click to the page it is on, but when I look at it in the feed, the right half of the gazelle is cut off. Or in the one in extras, the right half of the tree is cut off. Just weird -- fine if I click on it, but just not in the feed. I'll see if I can find a discussion thread about the issue.
You have obviously learnt very well! Lovely image with great editing. No problem viewing your image this end - nothing missing in feed or when I click on it. I have booked two days private tuition with my friend Simon and I think I will be adding this to my list of things I want to do.
@pamknowler I'm happy to send you my notes -- they probably won't be easy to follow but Simon might be able to answer key questions. I thought what our tutor took us through today was quite helpful and made more sense to me after using Topaz Textures these past few years.
Fabulous, great editing, such fun learning photoshop, also very confusing at times. My daughter will answer questions and help me learn but many a time she says mum “ Do you really understand layers?” I think I do🤣 .... just so much to learn
great processing and interesting notes - I see some chopping in the photostream on wide pictures - and portrait shots don't get any bigger if you click on them .
your images are fine on my feed. Great investment to get a tutor in those products - I was at camera club last night and realised there were all sorts of easy fixes to things that have totally been passing me by. Unfortunately they still do as the demonstration was far too quick and advanced for me to be able to take anything from it. I really like the black and white conversion of this - it makes it kind of picture book and enhances the story element.
You're getting great results using layers and new processing skills. I'd love to have tutor to learn some of these techniques. You've given me the idea to look for someone in my area because the classes that I've done in the past moved too quickly. It would be easier in a 1-to-1 or small group setting.
@redy4et We've found two tutors who were great, through Wyzant. If you email me (I think you have my address), I can send you an invite that is $40.00 off your first lesson. I can also send you the contact info for the guy we worked with over email. The woman we just met with is local -- but I'm sure that there are many that work out of your area. Check it out online and if you want the coupon, just let me know. We thought they've been really helpful!
@taffy I would love to have your notes too. I think you did brilliantly with the monkey and I see the whole photo. I like it a lot other than the gazelle looks a bit like a cut out...over sharpened perhaps?
@jgpittenger Thanks for your comments, as always! Just sent the notes along to you. Yep -- gazelle is too sharp. I was so focused on the grasses I didn't check how the sharpening had affected the gazelle.

Great PS work- I would never have known you moved the monkey!
