I finally participated in World Wide Minute! Unfortunately, I hadn't changed my camera to take into account changes in Daylight Saving Time last weekend, plus my camera is one minute off from my phone. Grrrr.... But according to my iPhone, I snapped this at 5:47 p.m. CST! It was taken through the window of a building on Michigan Avenue, looking toward the Art Institute, and beyond that, the planetarium and Field Museum that are part of Museum Campus. In the far distance, you can see the shoreline with smokestacks that are in an industrial area in Indiana (the state to the east of Illinois).
I love how you can see all the way to the Adler. Refresh my memory, as it's been FOREVER since I've been home to Chicago, is that a Calder sculpture? Thanks for participating in World Wide Minute 2019!
@mej2011 It is a Calder (the Flying Dragon) but not what I always think of as "The" Calder that's in Federal Plaza (The Flamingo). I like how the orange popped -- very cool that you noticed it! It was fun participating this year at long last!
I've just realised the photo you posted on FB was not from your apartment! Silly me, I was thinking now this is a view I haven't seen before! Interesting buildings, both foreground and background. The reflected sunset looks like a fire :)
Oh my! Awesome view. I checked my camera settings and sure enough mine was pre-daylight savings time. We weren’t doing anything special, just a run to the grocery, but I snapped it anyway. A fun Facebook exercise
Were you on top of the building with the swimming pool in the basement? I was working on taxes paperwork and missed the minute altogether! But you got a nice capture of a clear view all the way to Indiana!
What a great photo. It is so clear close and far away. Wow! I took a few at the time as well but just of the ducks in our backyard through our bathroom window. Not planned as they had just landed in our pool.
