As we move into the last phase of our trip, I think the highlight by far has been the kayak trip in the low country among the most amazingly dense cypress and other trees mirrored almost perfectly (except when our kayaks disrupted the water). Jim did most of the paddling so I could photograph. Our guide, Ricky, took us deep into the low country, identifying trees, birds, and various growths. Taken at Audubon's Francis Beider Forest in South Carolina. http://sc.audubon.org/visit/beidler
Wonderful shot - definitely says deep south - I've always thought a kayak would be the way to see these swamps - so quiet. You can almost sense the quietness in your photo. Great reflections.
I would presume there were no alligators lurking in that dark cypress forest! It would have been memorable to do this and get these great pictures! fav
@maggiemae@moonmtn Yes, there were alligators, but it turns out they are basically pretty shy and avoid people. We saw one on the bank and paddled over to look more closely. All in all, it never moved (and we did keep a respectful distance).
