I eventually had a safe but very late arrival in Santa Barbara last night. Today, with strong Santa Anna winds making sailing dangerous, we had a fun day getting the boat ready for the trip, bicycling along the coast and into the cute downtown area, and doing a little photography. Then we were treated to a lovely sunset and beautiful moon rise over the harbor before dinner. We had out tomorrow morning for the Channel Island chain...very exciting!
Thank you for all your well wishes. It ended up taking 16 hours to fly here -- longer than it would take to get from Chicago to Tokyo! Or I could have flown round trip to/from Europe!

@jnadonza We are underway. I almost got there but was in a bike and couldn’t face the uphill. I had really wanted to photograph there but ran out of time to go back via Lyft. SB seems quite charming.
