Life has certainly derailed my flash of red month. A few days ago, husband Jim mentioned having some chest pains. After a bit of a scare, a procedure to put in a stent with one more to take place in April, he's home and doing well. Photo above taken from 4th floor out one of the hospital windows. Several states away, my 97 year old mom fell and fractured her hip. Not good, but she's rallied (hairline fractures without need for surgery) and is in rehab, doing better than we would have expected. My brother is on it. My turn will come later (as a doctor, he's more useful at this point). On the upbeat side, Jim was cleared for travel so we will have a week coming up in Mexico, joining friends who have a time share. A good place for Jim to recoup. It will be awhile before I catch up on commenting, I suspect. Thanks in advance for your understanding!
Oh, no!! Please give Jim our best wishes for a speedy recovery. We'll have to catch up when you get a minute. Our best wishes to your mom, too. Glad no surgery needed.
Life always has other plans. Glad Jim is on the mend and your mom, oh my! This is a cool photo, I must say the trains must add to the whole hospital experience, running along on the tracks.
You got such an interesting shot with all those lines - but so sorry to hear about Jim and your mom. Obviously made of tough stuff! Glad to hear that both are doing better.
Lovely photo. A real fav. I love the patterns from railroad tracks. And my compliments to you. Like a true 365er, making the best of a bad situation and finding a worthy photo, under the worst of circumstances. Glad to hear that your Jim had a successful outcome and is recovering. Hopefully, he'll wind up as feisty as Bernie Sanders after his (no political comment intended.) Also, glad to hear your mom is on the mend, as well. Enjoy your Mexico trip. It sounds like you need/deserve a vacation.
Great capture with lots of leading lines. Hope Jim has a speedy recovery and that your mom mends quickly. After all that stress, Mexico should be a good place to relax.
Gosh you have had a lot on. Same thing happened to my brother a few years ago. The stent made a difference almost immediately to the chest pain ie heart attack he was having.
Hope he and your mum recover ok
Oh, you have had a bit of a week! Hope both Jim and your mum are doing ok. Enjoy your break in Mexico - it sounds like you both need it. This is a lovely image, by the way - great lines and detail.
Super shot indeedy.
So sorry for all the health stresses going on - no wonder you have been a bit quiet! All the best to both Jim and your Mum. Glad to hear they are doing well after the initial shocks. And lots of love to you too!
The intricacies if the railway...lovely all those criss cross lines! So glad Jim is on the mend...he will be a new man...you will have to run to keep up...aren’t medical procedures wonderful these days? Best wishes to you both! Glad mum has gif good care with her family....it all comes at once!
goodness, taffy. love the image. but not the narrative. so sorry to hear about jim and your mother. so glad though that they both seem on the mend. get well soon to both :)
My goodness- when it rains, it pours! Wishing both Jim and your mother speedy recoveries. Wow- your trip to Mexico comes at a good time- you can slow down and take it easy with no distractions. On the other hand- what a great way to take advantage of an unpleasant situation- this shot is fantastic!
I was just thinking how quiet you have been when I saw your comment on my last image for a while. I am ducking out of 365 and FB at least for March while we have all the work going on. My problems fade into nothing compared to yours Taffy! So sorry to hear about Jim and hope he is now well on the road to recovery! Very scary for you both! Your poor mom that’s all she needs at her age! I hope she makes a quick recovery too! Enjoy your Mexico trip - sounds fabulous! I will catch up with you soon. Big hug xx
@pamknowler I'll miss seeing you here, but let's stay in touch via email. We'll be traveling a lot of March, the last 2 weeks in Patagonia and the first week in Mexico, so I won't be around much either. Very relieved that Jim is okayed to travel, but rather worried about how my mom will be able to respond to rehab. She has to be able to get to the point of being able to get up on her own and use the walker successfully. We won't know for a few weeks, so hard times for us there, I suspect. Good luck with your home renovations and I hope the house is better than ever as a result!
Oh so sorry to about your husband Jim and your mom Taffy wishing them both a speedy recovery, enjoy your time in Mexico.
I have just returned from Florida and enjoyed the lovely weather and even had time to play some pickleball, what a great sport!
Great lines in this b&w photo, too bad it was taken from a hospital!
Very sorry to hear about Jim. I had a stent put in last year during a heart attack so I know what a scary time it can be. I'm sure he'll be fine now and your holiday sounds like an ideal tonic. Sad for your mum that she has to go through tough rehab but it sounds like your brother is an ideal carer with his medical knowledge.
You sure know how to make use of your unfortunately long time at the hospital to still find a good photo to take! This is really great -- almost worth a visit to the hospital, but definitely not to wish Jim back. Just a visit randomly.
Wow, that was a double whammy. Enjoy your vacation and so glad your husband and mom are doing better. Looks like you found the perfect window and even had a train cooperate.
Just checking back to see what happened in your family. Sorry to read of these troubles but glad the news is positive on both fronts. I hope the holiday gives you both time to rest and start to recover from what must be a very stressful time. Meanwhile, I am mesmerised by all the vertical and horizontal lines here.
Hi Taffy, I'm back. I don't know whether I will be a regular contributor like you ( I admire your consistency and creativity) but I will try to post something.
Love this shot, the b&w and the strong lines directing your eyes.
@mara19500 That's wonderful!!! So glad to think of being able to "see" you more regularly. I'm sort of in a photo funk at the moment but hoping to get over it. Hope you're doing well and are safe/healthy!
