Protect Others and Wear Your Mask by taffy

Protect Others and Wear Your Mask

Even the Picasso sculpture is being a good citizen of Chicago, wearing a mask to protect others. The Picasso and the Art Institute Lions all wore their face masks, patterned as the state flag, to honor one component of loosening some restrictions in Illinois.
I knew this was going to be yours...and such a gentle rub to remind people that everyone's in this together!

I saw the picture of the lions, but I didn’t know the Picasso got a mask too! A good reminder to us!

@kchuk Did you read that someone stole the north lion's mask? Couldn't believe it but the poor lion's face was as bare as could be late this morning.

That is very clever and quite funny despite its seriousness.

What a clever installation. You have to wonder what goes through someone's mind to steal something from an installation.

A wonderful idea to cheer people up and spread the message. :)

What a great way to make people smile in such scary times! Very clever thinking! How sad someone took the lion’s mask! There is always someone who will spoil things for the rest of us!

Clever idea!

Someone stole the mask? How sad indeed! Here people were stealing hand sanitiser and toilet rolls from hospitals when the panic buying started. How crazy is that!! Lovely lion, such a fascinating design.

Very nice. I read so much of tragedies in the US about the way Covid19 is being handled mostly from critics of Donald Trump that most often I don't know what to believe.

Delightful...may the opening not lead to a surge. I do wonder and worry and hope. I love this sign of the times though

@sangwann Sadly, what you are reading is correct. It's a tragedy here on many levels with the cost being thousands unnecessarily sick, dying, or having lost their lives. I'm grateful to live in a state and a city with strong, sensible leaders who are guided by public health experts and other scientists. And t here are many state leaders (not all) who are doing all they can do for its citizens -- for example, there are three groups of governors who have banded together to help one another in ways that they might have expected the federal gov't to help. We have true heroes working in health care at all levels, as well as those on the 'front line' of necessary businesses that allow groceries and pharmacies to function. But we do not appear to be organized in ways that we would expect a first world country with our resources to operate. I'm sure you've read many details of this. It's frightening to think of what is going to happen over more time under these conditions.

The virus is so devastating across the world and the US seems to be suffering terribly. But sadly you don't seem to have a decisive leader who cares about people.

Very clever reminder. Great capture.

Talk about a clever way to show a public support in a way that brings a smile while communicating so clearly. It's so interesting because when I was returning to the US during the weeks when people were showing negative attitudes toward Asians, I chose not to wear my mask on the airplanes because of this, and because we were told then that masks didn't help. I couldn't have imagined a time when people outside of Asia would all be wearing masks. Even Picasso. Now I see why you were driving around today.

For many years our photography drew us together from many countries - sadly now a global pandemic links us all.

Well over hear, they are still arguing the debate about whether anyone should be encouraged to wear a mask at all. Today, the first day our death levels became the highest in Europe and we are several weeks behind Italy in the arrival of Covid-19. Some very bad management going on. I do hope things settle down quickly for you in Chicago.
