Greetings from the Bean Pile by taffy

Greetings from the Bean Pile

Our neighbors are off island for a few weeks and invited us to use what we can from their garden (also means the biting dog is off-island which is a bit of a relief). They had a large crop of very ripe cranberry beans that are sort of fun for photography-play. They come in very pretty marbled pods. Once the beans are cooked, all the patterns disappear, sadly.
A happy capture - must fav for the smile it brought me!

Fun image. I’ve never heard of cranberry beans. They say we are supposed to eat beans every day! Are those good?

I don’t know beans about why this bowl is smiling at me.

@ggshearron You made me laugh!

@louannwarren To me, they taste a lot like white northern beans -- I used some in a cabbage soup. Tasty, fairly firm, but nothing that different than other white beans.

Lol! Delightful. How are you healing? Glad the biter is gone for now

@jgpittenger Looks icky but healing fine. I'll probably have a scar, but it is on my calf so not all that noticeable.

Glad for the healing at least...glad it sin’t your face

Neat marbled pattern - but unfortunately, however good they are for you, northern beans have never been my favorite. Made a nice shot though with that cheerful little face.

365 is a wonderful place for strange people like us who play with our food and then take pictures of it! How nice of your neighbors to gift you with their bean crop (and whatever else was ready to harvest).

This is perfect - play with the spoils of the garden of the biting dog! Ha! Wonderful!

Love borlotti beans, they look so interesting. But I've never thought of making art with them. Trust you to be creative.
September 4th, 2020
Whoops, should've read the whole post first. I don't know cranberry beans, but they look very similar to borlotti beans.

Made me smile! I thought cranberries were small red berries that you have with turkey. Not heard of these beans but handy that your neighbours have left them for you. Dog bite? I seem to have missed that! Are you ok? Did you need a tetanus injection? You do need to be careful with dog bites. Take care and hope it heals soon! Good job the dog isn’t still on the island! If dogs attack people here it has to be reported.

Ha ha love it. Plant them in the garden and see if you get a beanstalk.

eek i missed that you'd been bitten :( hope it will heal neatly. for some reason i've developed a real fear of dogs in my old age, so i feel for you. at least you can take advantage of the neighbour's harvest!

Such a happy fave and lovely beans. I too missed that were have been bitten, can be quite nasty! As a child I have been bitten four times, one scar I still have on my face. I am petrified of dogs. Hope yours heals well and soon.

Great idea! fav

These are new to me too - I thought they were marbled chocolate:)
September 4th, 2020
Smiley face back at you!
September 4th, 2020
Thank goodness the biting dog is off the scene for a bit then!
Strange beans & an even stranger name...cranberry beans...can’t be anything to do with cranberries can they?
September 4th, 2020
They are gorgeous! Lovely name for beans.
September 4th, 2020
Fun, cheery shot! ...hope that bite heals soon
September 4th, 2020
A fun shot. I felt that way about purple green beans. What a disappointment to find when cooked, they look like ordinary green beans.

not good news about a dog bite - that would be terrifying. I too was unaware of such a thing as cranberry beans. but glad they gave you a smile.
September 4th, 2020
A very cute smile :)
Sad to hear about your bite, but good to hear you are healing!
September 5th, 2020
Cute shot.

Cranberry beans- never heard of them before. Chalk that info up to the "you learn something new everyday" motto on 365 today! Fun shot.

Cranberry beans! I'd never heard of them but I just found out that the American version of the Italian borlotti beans for the recipe I have is called that.
