Milky Way Greets Jupiter by taffy

Milky Way Greets Jupiter

As my neighbor and I were stargazing (and me, photographing), we watched Jupiter creep up over Bonners Bluff. It was bright and much larger than the stars so really stood out. Clouds came in and my focus wasn't tack sharp, so best looking smaller than larger this time!
Gorgeous shot… love the trees framing the nice curve to the water.

Envious of your clear skies and lack of light pollution. I've been trying to figure out where you are located. After checking out a few of pictures I'm thinking it is Beaver Island in Lake Michigan.

@gardencat Exactly. We are on the west side of the island, about one-third of the way south from the furthest northern point. So very very fortunate as I can walk to the shoreline and take the photo from there. The island has our application in for Dark Sky designation, which is pretty exciting. There are a lot of places all over for seeing the stars. Very little light pollution.
