Another in the series from the Chicago Open House event this past weekend.
If you were one of the leading architects in the world, heading one of the top 20 firms, designing famous buildings around the world (O'Hare Airport, the new airport in Bangkok, Cityspire in NYC, Sony Center in Berlin), where would you choose to have your headquarters and your office? In Chicago, of course! For the Chicago Open House, members of the Chicago Architectural Foundations could do a tour of the JAHN offices, including getting to see Helmut Jahn's office. This is his view, just beyond his desk -- looking north over the Chicago River toward the iconic Wrigley and Tribune buildings.
Oh my gosh! This is a stunning composition and a most wonderful view! I wouldn't get any work done...but then it would also be very inspirational. . Beautifully composed Taffy!!! FAV
@welcometocarolworld It was great and I'd say you should think about coming up next year. I limited my choices to the Loop and had a map set up so I knew what order to do things in. What I didn't consider was when the lighting was best for certain spots, but really, there's so much to photograph inside that lighting isn't that big a deal. Anyway, it was manageable by choosing carefully re geography, and spreading it across 2 days. I think you can do about 7 - 10 a day at most.
@kchuk Thanks Elyse -- I know -- I would have thought he'd be on top of one of his skyscrapers! But I guess you actually see the buildings from this level. And it's prime view space.
What a wonderful view to have - it would be an inspiration i think!! You have captured it really well Taffy - the day sounds fabulous - so many oportunities to see things you wouldn't normally be able to see!! Great shot!! Fav!!
Loving Chicago and having taken the architectural tour more than once, I'm fascinated to see the view from this famous architect's office! Thanks for sharing the moment!
@wendyhgill Wendy, thanks so much for faving this!
@kimshots I know the feeling -- our university offices certainly aren't anything like this (I look over a highway and train tracks through a teeny window, for example). What an amazing place to go to work every day -- AND, the view is what he gives his visitors. His chair actually faces away from the view!

Next year! Must go. My friend and her husband volunteered to work at this walk and it sounds really fun.
