As we flew into Oahu yesterday, we saw the most amazing rainbow -- I'd never seen anything like it. It was made of thick bands of colors and it hung beneath the clouds across the mountain range behind Honolulu. Even Kathy (from Hawaii) said she hadn't seen one like this. This doesn't do just to it -- I had to up the saturation to have the colors come through the dirty plane's window and it makes the sea a weird shade of blue, but the rainbow was even more remarkable than what I have here.
We are home, more to post, but I missed posting on the 26th because of travel. We flew all night, left 80 degrees for upper 20's but it could be worse. I must get some sleep but didn't want to be more than 7 hours late posting in this last week.
Til later...
Oh - and remember that today is the last day to vote for Get-Pushed-74 finalists: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/20279/please-vote-get-pushed-74
Wow, Taffy, what must this wonder of nature have made a magical sight! Great that you've been able to capture it nicely, in spite if the dirty windows.
Taffy, this rainbow is stunning! That you captured this gorgeous shot from the airplane window, dirty as it was, is amazing! I've thoroughly enjoyed your series of images from Oahu and Maui. I'm going the end of January so I hope the weather is just as beautiful as it is now. Have a Happy New Year.
I really enjoyed a little trip down memory lane while viewing your Hawaii photos - we went 18 months ago and stayed in Kaanapali and then Kauai - just stunning places.
@sianipops Oh, what fun to know you were there! I'm glad my photos were able to capture the area in a way that you remembered too. I'd never been to Maui and really would like to go back for a longer time, to explore the interior and other parts of the coastline.
@taffy did you go see the big tree in Lahaina? A banyan tree, I understand it's all lit up for Christmas. Ooh and Leoda's bakery on the way to Kaanapali, just before Lahaina I think, mmmm yum. Oh such wonderful memories, i so hope to go back one day.
@sianipops We didn't -- darn! We were there such a short time that we know we want to go back. We basically only had 2 1/2 days, and we both got colds while there so weren't at our best. Next time...
@redy4et I hope you have a great time there, Elizabeth! Which islands are you going to be visiting? I know we were pretty lucky with the amount of sunny weather we had but Hawaii is so beautiful and the rain doesn't seem to stop anyone from what they are doing outside.
@leonbuys83 Thank you Leon, for your comment here and your comments and fav's on other shots today. I appreciate your support and well wishes (and hope all the good wishes make this cold go away soon!!).
@busylady Heehee! I smiled at your comment. In Hawaii, it felt like I was very lucky, especially when it came to the rainbows. Not only to spot them but to have my camera available when I did! Thanks!
