Colombine in Monochrome by taffy

Colombine in Monochrome

For my get-pushed challenge this week, Frank @frankhymus challenged me to photograph a lovely flower in b&w. I think there is no flower as beautiful, delicate, and complex as the columbine. Minimal processing using Silver Efex Pro to convert from color.
It's also b&w Wednesday, at least for a few more minutes!
I have same one I took one while ago. I couldn't think of name. It's columbine with purple flower.I like how you do with B&W.

Well done - the flower is just as if not more beautiful without the colour

You must have had a good lighting on the flower. It comes out lively. I found that it the lighting is not good, the B&W can be very flat. My fav

Oh I like this...lots. It's a b&w that is almost white without going too close to high key. Very unusual processing. Fav :)

I wondered if it was an Silver Efex edit. Lovely flower and processing.

@yaorenliu Thank you, Yao. You are right about the lighting -- it was a very bright day and I went out about 4:00 in the afternoon when the sun was on that section of the garden. Then, I used a low ISO to try to keep the image as clean as possible.
@kimshots Thanks Kim -- it was a Silver Efex -- good eye! I think it was the art processing with some adjustments then made in Aperture to get the contrasts the way I wanted them to look. Most of my b&w I start with in Aperture to get the color version with the contrasts I want, then go to Efex to get the b&w style I want, then back to Aperture for final adjustments.
