Golden Escalator by taffy

Golden Escalator

I've seen some wonderful escalator shots on Project 365 and had these in mind - in Chicago's Ogilvie Train Station. I was meeting three fellow 365ers -- Katie, Bill, and Sheryl -- who were coming in by train from Madison Wisconsin for a photography meet up and took this while waiting for their arrival. The local wonders theme for today is wonders from a child's eye view. The image is a combination of three photos taken using live-view at a very low level -- a child's height. Then I combined the photos using HDR Efex Pro.
nice, love how the lines come together on this type of shot

@pamknowler @hjbenson Thanks Pam and Harry for the view, comment, and the fav! I appreciate it!

Such a great idea -- at child's eye level! That would mean I could see all the settings on top of the camera without having to stand on my toes! Very effectively portrayed as wonder.

@jyokota You made me laugh! Local wonders 'from a child's view' was a perfect theme day for you!!
October 21st, 2013
@taffy --I struggle with various aspects of height constantly and since I've become a tripod user, it's put a particular challenge in seeing the top of the camera.
October 21st, 2013
@jyokota I find the same problem, even being taller. Once the camera is on the tripod, it's hard to see what the settings are without tipping the tripod over and shining a flashlight on it.
October 21st, 2013
@taffy -- I think I'm especially sad today about my lack of height because the raincoat was too long everywhere :(
October 21st, 2013
@jyokota Oh no!! That's REALLY sad! I never would have thought that would happen.
October 21st, 2013
@taffy @jyokota I am 5feet 9inches tall and also have to tip the tripod over to see the top of the camera! Lol!
October 21st, 2013
@pamknowler -- so it must be a side-hazard of using a tripod and not just a function of height! Good to know. Now I won't feel so sorry for myself when I tip my tripod over, knowing that people even 9 inches taller are doing the same thing. :)

Great image - how did you manage to catch it with no-on on it?
October 21st, 2013
Love this Taffy, great HDR work. Did you use a tripod? Gosh it sounds as though you are having fun with these meet ups.

@elaine55 Actually, this was handheld, bracketed and three continuous shots, held sort of at waist level. I did it three times and this was the set that was cleanest re focus and also was lined up the way I'd wanted. I was using live view, but even so, it was hard to see (I didn't know if we are even allowed to photograph, so I was trying to be quite discreet, just in case). I've tried to get this shot a few times but without a tripod and time to set up, etc., it's always iffy. I was pretty excited at this one that came out the way I'd hoped.

@busylady Thanks Judith! I was waiting to meet the Wisconsin folks for our meet up and had about 20 minutes so it was a combination of luck and timing (see response above to Elaine). A lot of the ones I started to do would be photobombed with a group on it. If you look close in the upper right hand corner, there's a guy on it, but this was the emptiest I could get.

@taffy you did a really good job here Taffy, I am so shaky without a tripod on shots like this. We aren't allowed to set Tripods up in shopping malls here.

Fantastic pov. Great shot, Taffy.
