I took this shot yesterday with the idea of processing it today for bww. The Hancock is such a distinctive building -- commercial on the base and then the rest is residential. It's one of the city's tallest (you can feel it sway in high winds) with the iconic "X"s on going up the sides. This was taken from across the street, looking straight up.
@darylo Absolutely fine to say the cloud processing is weird. The sky was really weird yesterday! I combined three shots for this image, and that brought out the details in the clouds. When I converted to black and white, this is what I ended up with. I liked the building, so figured I'd live with the clouds.
I saw your photo on BWW - we stayed in Chicago last month, arriving on the day of the storm on the 18th of September (it was interesting to see the reason for our 4 hour flight delay from Denver to Chicago in your rainy photo!). A fantastic city and I love your photos of places we didn't manage to get to. Here's an FB image of the John Hancock Centre (personally I prefer it to the Willis Tower - sorry!) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=614529618599723&set=pb.186301661422523.-2207520000.1383209058.&type=3&theater
@emmadurnford Such timing that you were flying in on that very stormy night. I liked your shot of the Hancock building a lot. Hope you enjoyed your time here!
@mikegifford@pamknowler Mike, thanks so much for the fav, Mike and Pam! This has always been one of my favorite buildings and I've been wanting to get a good shot of it for awhile now.
@darylo THanks Daryl! I'm finding that processing is a lot of fun, and learning a few programs has helped. I'm still not using anything major like LR or PS.
Gives me some nice memories of being in Chicago in March 2012, got a few snaps of the Hancock (not as good as yours) as well as the Willis (Sears) Tower too... I loved Chicago. Would like to visit again... in the Summer next time though!
