With record low temperatures and snow on its way, the streets are a mess and our car is now happily in the garage for the next few days. I took this one from the garage where I parked for my appointment at Apple this afternoon. My car spot faced the wall, and just beyond it was the trestle with the El approaching. I didn't realize until today what a great spot for photographing the train this would be, as you're practically at eye level! Processed using pic-monkey to get the blur -- my shot was actually incredible clear! Note the "Loop" at the top -- that means it's heading downtown to the business district, known as the 'loop' because of the elevated tracks that form a loop around that area.

FAV! This is spectacular, Taffy! I almost sense the danger of being in that spot, but I can't imagine how you were able to get at that angle. I love photos that intrigue, and this one is absolutely intriguing.
@jyokota Junko -- imagine driving into the lot and going to the far right (straight ahead, basically) along the west wall. Literally, the trestle is right there, but I just hadn't noticed how close it was as I'd only tried shooting from the 1st level looking up. On the second level, you're basically just below the train and there's an opening on the west wall where you have a really clear view. We should go there when it isn't so cold and just wait for practice with panning, and with fast shutter. It's pretty cool!
@amandal@aprilmilani Thanks, friends, for your quick response to this. I was pretty excited about posting it, actually. I don't know if where else I could get this particular perspective so was excited about discovering the spot (and looking forward to spring when my fingers wouldn't be so numb!
I'm not a big fan of tilting pictures, but in this case it is perfect. An incredibly dynamic photo. I can almost hear the train and feel the vibrations. Fav.
Taffy, this is yet another "WOW!" shot. :-) I called my second oldest son, who is obsessed with trains to see this. He asked me to tell you "Thank you for the picture". I say "Thank You" too, for sharing your talent (and enthusiasm) with us.
@bernicrumb Gosh, Berni -- thank you AND your son!! I must admit I was very excited when I realized I could get this shot from the parking lot! I want to do another one (when it isn't so cold) against a blue sky or with some clouds -- but that's probably several months away!
