I was going to call this "Thwarted by First Monday Chamber Music" because I'd gone back to the Cultural Center today with my wide angle lens to photograph the Tiffany Dome. However, it was during the first Monday lunchtime concert and I couldn't get into that area (well I could, and did, to listen for a bit, but no way I could photograph). Instead, I thought of my get-pushed challenge to take a photo of patterns and fill the frame. I don't think this is entirely what Sally @salza had in mind but I did think this was an assault of patterns and they certainly fill a wide-angle frame!
Main album has the "other" stained glass dome in the Cultural Center: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-04-07
And thank you for such a nice response to the forced perspective shot of Danbo and Junko. If you check out Junko's album (@jyokota) you can see the setup. Here's the link: http://365project.org/jyokota/challenges-and/2014-04-06
This is such a great POV and comp to use with the wide angle lens...which I love using in urban and architectural photography...and all with your usual immaculate clarity. Big fav!
Your phraseology, "...an assault of patterns..." is absolutely marvelous! That you were to "fill the page with patterns" is well-accomplished here, and cheers for thinking outside the box to do so!
This is so cool Taffy, it´s messing with my mind and I´m loosing the sense of perspective and my mind can´t decide how I should perceive this, fantastic comp and POV!
Instant Fav. Very Escher and these are the sort of stairs I wanted to find yesterday but I don't really know any buildings that I can find like this. Really fabulous perspective and composition Taffy!
I agree with Jan @macromover I think the people add a really interesting dimension to this super shot. This is a wonderful image of a beautiful building and a very easy fav.
I was going to call this "Escher lands in Chicago", but I see others beat me to it! What a great perspective and distortion! Is this an HDR, or was there just really good lighting throughout?
Wow this is an amazing shot Taffy Love the colours and the leading lies heading off in all directions. The more you look at it the more it unveils its self
I really like the people caught in the picture -- was trying to imagine it without those people. Would still be great picture to look at, but I think the people give it all sorts of other dimensions.
Another stunning shot Taffy!! You are so lucky to have access to these wonderful buildings. Your shots are always pure art forms with such wonderful detail!! Fav!!
@panthora This was HDR. I had my lens (14-24 Nikkor f/2.8) on 2.8 as the light was pretty low, and shutter speed ranged from 1/5 to 1/13. I was leaning against the wall to hold my camera as steady as possible.
Congratulations on making the Trending Page. Well deserved.

No wonder people used stairs more often in the past, they were so much more interesting!
