To New Worlds and Beyond

I've been away for a few days - life/work getting in the way. Thank you so much for your amazing response to the snowflake in grasses. I so appreciated it! I haven't had my camera out since then, til tonight when I did a disappointing-in-the-end photo shoot of oil and water. None of the representational shots were interesting, ending with tipping the dish with oil and water in it onto my desk and madly mopping it up so it wouldn't migrate into my computer. That ended the photo shoot, of course. I took the one I liked the best in terms of shapes/form and did some processing play in SnapArt. This was the result. Wishing everyone a good weekend.
very interesting edit. Does look out of this world.

@michaelelliott Thanks Michael. It's been relaxing to process tonight and zone out on TV after three very intense days. I liked having the sense of control over the image!

Love the colours, fabulous abstract!
I know the feeling about life/work getting in the way. I am already behind for this week!

Makes a great abstract Taffy. Hope computer is safe and dry!

I like the silvery look and pink tone goes with it very well.

Necessity is the mother of invention and you have invented an interesting image!

Oh Taffy I did identify with your oily experience! I did one of these back in my early days and had a casserole dish balanced precariously on beer can turrets... Yep, you guessed it! All over the floor and no decent photo out of it either! ! Pleasing shapes, looks other worldly and the silver /grey palette works well.

Cool processing - looks like an oil painting.

I admire your tenacity.

Tenacity + creativity = art

Great abstract. It does look very every other worldly. David had a disaster today too. He knocked over a glass of ginger beer on his desk in the study, but managed to mop it up before it caused too much damage. Hopefully his computer is okay too. There were a few rude words I can tell you :)

Great editing.

What an intriguing picture! Definitely alien!

Great abstract image, very nice edit
January 17th, 2016
It certainly has an outer space feel to it. The processing is really neat, like an oil painting.
January 17th, 2016
Very unusual, love the colours, shapes and textures.

Your narrative made me smile. Not a fun way to end the day with a spill. I do like the result, fav.

I like the edit! I can relate to your feelings as I've not posted in nearly a week - a first for me! Haven't been feeling well, haven't had ANY inspiration, and have been very busy. UGH! Maybe today? Hang in there! :)

A wonderful shot and edit wonderful colours of the steel grey with a hint of pink, wonderful shapes and textures -- a beautiful outer space feel to this ! fav

Fascinating image.

Nicely captured abstract effect
January 17th, 2016
It's a work of art!

In semi-retirement sometimes the work just intrudes on the good times. But I like being productive, the human contact and the money. LOL We both have done some playing. Interesting.

Super image with a painterly look to it...love the shapes, colors
January 17th, 2016
I really had to pour over that (no pun intended!) to try to figure out what it was! Mushrooms came to mind first... and then I read of your "disaster" Had much the same when photographing the little bouquet of flowers the other day...wind kept blowing over my set up! Finally stopped refilling the glass!
January 17th, 2016
@Weezilou Loved your pun! Your experience reminds me of trying to photograph a flower on our rooftop with the city behind...until the vase (not glass, thankfully) took a two story tumble (and no one was below, thankfully!). We photographers take some pretty odd risks!

Lovely painterly abstract.
@snaggy

So long as you didn't tip the dish over on purpose to get a new effect or something, I think life is ok.
January 17th, 2016
@francoise Definitely not on purpose!! And I had to toss my background that I've had for a few years -- can't get the oil off it. UGH! But computer and watch and hard drive are all fine today, whew!
January 17th, 2016
This sounds like a near thing Taffy!! Glad the computer is ok. An interesting edit!!

What @jocasta said. Great images are like complex music - they take a while to grow on us.
January 17th, 2016
love the processing...good colours...almost looks like a cell
January 17th, 2016
Cool
January 17th, 2016
painterly is always cool...textures and organic shapes and color all work really well with a unplanned water spill!
January 17th, 2016
I know what you mean re having control over the editing. I had the same experience editing some business portraits for my daughter today. I really like the feel of this abstract image. And the muted colors really add to it
January 18th, 2016
Well that looks like a fun app Taffy!
January 18th, 2016
Nice save! I have to put together an oil and water shoot for the camera club in Feb. Last year's results were so-so but it was probably because of the set-up. Lots of research to do to make it better this year.
January 19th, 2016
Incredible picture.
January 19th, 2016
Gee, what a near miss for your hardware Taffy. Sounds like a good save.
I like this image, whatever the tech problems, it's a good abstract.
January 19th, 2016
Your creativity knows no bounds! Sorry about the mishap but it did make an amusing read. Great other worldly image.
