In support of the orange color theme (but not taken this week so not eligible) -- feeling the need for some color after primarily processing in black & white. I am revising some 2015 shots (it's what happens when I attached the 2015 hard drive yesterday and have not gotten around to switching it out for the 2016 one...talk about lazy). This was from the December trip to Carlsbad and had been in a reject pile. I'm so glad I didn't delete it! It had a bird in it to, but some critique friends said that the bird plus the people made it hard to decide what the eye was to land on. That version is on my Flickr site -- I decided the bird could go away, but not the people - https://www.flickr.com/photos/taffyraphael/24847127335/in/pool-2597746@N24

Here's the image with the choice made to delete the bird. I still think I like them both, but recognize that this has less distraction from the sunset and silhouettes. Daryl, I couldn't figure out how to get the bird going upward instead of down -- I think it involves layers which I'm still struggling with.
What a beautiful photo, Taffy! For a long time I've lamented that we don't have clouds out here! We usually don't! But oh this winter! That's certainly changed and it couldn't be more beautiful! I love that you have the subtlety of people in the picture!
A beautiful sunset which is made even better with those people on the edge - it's as if we are sharing it with them. I also like the Flickr version with the bird - I can flip the whole image but I don't know how to flip just the bird. Sounds like its something I need to learn. I have only scratched the surface of PS! Fav for your fab image!
Waaw , what a stunning view with the setting sun reflecting on the sea and rocks great textures , from the sky ,the ripple sea to the large angular rocks in the foreground .A well chosen composition ! --fav
Beautiful image, think you made the right decision to leave out the bird, If it would have been higher up in the sky it would have worked for the composition but so close to the sea it distracts.
So glad you didn't reject this image it is so beautiful. Love the sense of peace. It looks much nicer without the bird in the picture too as I agree the bird and the people make it more distracting.
It´s beautiful either way, I really can´t say which one is better, I liked the bird too but it steals attention from the couple so I think it was a right choice
@shepherdmanswife Thanks! I had so many from that day and had posted the one of the birds flying by. Now that I've gone back, I realized there were several rejects that were quite good in their own right -- just didn't have that perfect flock of birds!
I love this composition - the rocks, the splash of water, the silhouetted people and those unbelievable sky colors. Can't imagine this was ever considered for the reject pile! Fav

To flip just the bird you would need to use layers
