I think it's worked well to give us a nice sequence of events.. The only thing that seems to have let you down is the slight difference in the background intensity in the first and fourth frames - and that might just be my dodgy monitor!! :).
@robz That's exactly it...or at least one of the 'its.' First, I only had my 24-70 with me (and a macro, but no long lens, no tripod, so all hand held and then cropped). Second, when I did the processing, because of no tripod, the base of the shot was all over the place. Cropping was impossible to get its accurately done. When I put it in the collage, I thought it would be 'fixable' on the small scale of the photos and the ability to move the file around, but then when it was done (and only then) could I tell that the blacks weren't even across the shots. Grrr...so very frustrated in the end -- but too much work went into it not to post, and it also is one of my documentation shots for this visit.
@jgpittenger This was taken looking away from the city, so the only lights there were from one of the houses on the hill across the valley. But there is so much else wrong with the set of shots that lights were not the only issue unfortunately. Thanks for the supportive comment though -- I do appreciate that you thought the idea was a good one, and that it did look okay on black.
How very annoying for you - especially after all the time involved - even just waiting for the different moon shots must have taken ages!! I don't know any of your programs at all so this is probably a useless comment so please ignore it if so. The positioning of the images looked fine to someone who didn't know how much work went into that! - so, after it had all been saved would it have been possible to place a marquee around each of the offending squares, unselect the moon and lights inside the marquees, and then change the exposure of the shadows to darken the backgrounds so they matched the others? It always seems a shame to be unhappy with something which has taken a lot of time and is so good in so many ways. Ahhh - the challenge of "mucking around" with images - so much fun!! Cheers Rob :)
@robz Thanks Rob. I used picmonkey collage, which really has very little option to return and fix up. It was a lark...just one that ended up taking a lot more time than I'd planned!
