It was nice to walk the familiar trails where the trees and wildlife are old friends. There's my favorite Oak tree, and my favorite Sweet Gum tree, and that's where the baby squirrel used to live!
It was nice to look over the lake, to try to spot the eagle's nest through the still dense foliage, wondering if any eaglets were hatched this year and if the ones from last year have flown away; to see the wigwam that we built and remember looking up at the stars with a good friend and picking out "our" constellation.
Remembering the many canoe adventures - the one when a gar attacked us, the one when we saw all three eaglets together in one tree, the one when the mature eagle flew out from Tully Overlook with a squirrel in its talons. The pontoon ride when Rainbow and Cassanova were perched side by side looking out over their domain.
It was a little sad to see the new Rec Pavilion, knowing how many trees were cut down to make room for it. The many initiatives and night hikes that will no longer be held at the Teams Course because, well, it isn't there anymore.
The many firsts, the crazy adventures, crossing off achieved goals, conversations before bedtime and bedtime stories, EDPs. Memories that are just too numerous to recount. Maybe someday I will find myself here again, and I will marvel at all the things that are new and different but I hope that it will always be the Woods that I called home.
Your fall picture is so lovely.enjoy walking in the woods. you wouldn't believe how many pictures I took over the years..kept them all on the computer. wish I could upload a lot more and I guess I'll find the time and put some into my ace album Nature at it's best. did you see my ghostly picture which I took in the wood s for theme-selfportrait??
