this elderly kombi van is still going strong....this is the last Melbourne outer suburban petrol station at Nar Nar Goon....it's on Hwy 1 which if you stay on it will take you completely around Australia for some 20000km and is said to be the longest continuous highway in the world...can get a bit corrugated up north....drive safely and watch out for roo's..
Looks like the old VW vans that were so popular here in the 60's. That's quite a long hwy. Do people ever travel the whole route as a travel adventure? Love the way the light on the sign pops in the photo.
@mccarth1 ..yes Kerry..its a popular thing to do...its called ..."Doing the big lap"..it can be done in 3 or 4 months but a year or two is the way to go...
@golder365mjsmith ...yes Michael....there are plenty of grey nomads doing "the big lap" at any one time...most go anti clockwise to catch the tail winds across the nullahbor plain...
That servo drives me mental because it doesn't have freeway access. I tend to fill up at Officer. I'd love an old Kombi. Seen a few done up and they look great. Terrific shot of an everyday occurrence.
