Strike

We have had the most spectacular lightning show tonight. Lasted for ages, both sheet and fork lightning. Stunning. Now, if Queensland would like to come down and get their weather back, I'd appreciate it. Bit tired of humid, muggy tropical conditions! This is Melbourne! Sunshine & gentle rain is all we require down here. Not torrential downpours and steamy heat.
Yes, it's been crazy! Well done to capture this image though!

Terrific and terrifying capture. I'm assuming the house survived.

I was there on this day. I was hoping to get some lightning but there wasn't any I could see. Awesome capture. I would gladly take the storms, we need some more :)

@bella_ss Thanks but the credit for this particular lightning shot goes to Mr Apple I-Phone and his friend Lightning App. Later that night, while there was still heaps of lightning happening, I went out with my DSLR and got my very first lightning captures without assistance. So happy. I knew that you were in Melbourne during that week. You got some fairly shitty weather while you were here, hey? Have you had any rain up north? They say that the wet season hasn't really happened. The Alice has copped a bit.

@teodw Yes, we got caught in a storm one afternoon but took refuge in a cafe and shared a bottle of wine and watched the storm, it was great! Funny enough it rained here while I was in Melbourne so it's nice and green for now. There is a low up north that might bring some more rain. So you didn't post your lightning shot?

@bella_ss No, when I was taking them and looking at the screen on the camera, they didn't appear special, but, when I uploaded onto the computer, they were pretty good for a first time. Next week I am going to a talk at the local library by "Victorian Storm Chasers". People upload their storm images to them and you see some great images on their page. Looking forward to the talk on how to capture some wild storm images.
