Evening Flight

CW - Sandhill Cranes flying over the lake at dusk.
Beautiful shot.

It is a beautiful shot. The silhouette and reflections are wonderful. I can't fault that. But I think the large expanse of black to the RHS is too much. A slightly tighter crop to reduce the weight of that would be good.
When framing something like this keep in mind that large, very dark or bright spots are a distraction and draw the eye away from the main subject - which in this case holds its own. But it would have been stronger without the so much of the black area on the right. In addition, cropping out or framing out the black mass would have placed the birds more on a third. Subjects placed on a third always draw the eye - slight imbalance draws the eye into the shot and helps keep the mind questioning.

@netkonnexion I actually agreen with what Netkonnexion said. i thought the shot is very nice and the birds make it much more interesting of a shot, but just a bit too much black dark space in my opinion.
