Art: Picture Perfect

Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life. —Omar Khayyam

The project, a 24/7 art gallery titled ‘Downtown Doors,’ applies decal replicas of art work from local middle and high school art students on service doors and utility boxes in an effort to beautify the city.
Thats very clever and good to see it here as a photo!

@maggiemae @moonmtn I think so as well! Their work is up for two years, so that’s great exposure for them. I’ve seen others, but this one caught my eye today.

That is a great project. And I love this example you chose to capture. Thanks for sharing with us. Every city ought to try that. It reminds me of the sidewalk across the street from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. They have several sections of the Berlin Wall planted there complete with the original graffiti. They are marvelous. As is this piece.

@mbrutus the Berlin Wall art must be a site to see! I’ll try to remember to vist the museum next time I travel through L.A.

@fbailey I agree! It surprised me to learn one of the winners in the past was 13 years old.

Thank you, everyone, for the visits & faves!

There is a lot of variety there. Do come fairly soon. They are going to rip much of it down in order to rebuild. While you are there, The Petersen Car Museum is just down the street as is the site of the Academybof Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Museum which is still under construction.

I'm so impressed that this art was done by a high school student. A really good idea.
