I like it but..... by teriyakih

I like it but.....

something is missing, what is it? I spent quite a while trying to get this rock draining water to look the way I want.... yet I am not in love with it. what's missing?
it is what it is :) good shutter speed for the streaks of water

I love it very much and as Katrina says I would be proud with this one too.

This is great but if you want to try something else (I understand that because I have been there many times), maybe a little vignetting will help concentrate the eyes on the water. But I am far from an expert.

Fabulous

Too centered? Lovely nonetheless

@joansmor Thanks for the idea, I tried it, but to me it seemed a get reall obvious wne ti bumped it up too much further.... though I might try a custom select to bled items better...

@jgpittenger That might be what is bothering my. The rocks lead the eye down and to the left, but the waterfall is centered and straight down.

Maybe If i re composed it more "up and to the right" it would make me happier. I will have to remember this the next time I am back there.

I learn so much from those of you who know what you're doing - Loved the idea you gave here -I can't add because I don't have the technical knowledge - just know what I like. This is awfully pretty

@milaniet everyone sees this differently, and some are better than others at identifying what the like or don't.

I have learned a ton from the photos of everyone I followed, especially from being able to creep through the exif data.

@jgpittenger I think I will reprocess one from this set that can be made less centered tomorrow so everyone can judge, but I think you hit the nail on the head.

@joansmor I will also add more vignette to tomorrow's edit. Might pull the more hilights out as well as push some shadows deeper.

@teriyakih I use a soft black vignetting in a lot of my pictures. Vignetting should not be obvious.

I also thought a little too centered. You create tension when you move off center. THat said I can't help but take most of my pictures centered and then I crop them after. My problem was when I first started taking pictures I thought you were supposed to center and it is hard to unlearn years of doing one thing.

I know what you mean. I too sometimes have a view in my mind's eye what I want and just cannot get it.
This is lovely - and I would be super pleased if it were mine!
A FAV!
