The Kookaburra Cafe is Open

We sometimes get Kookaburras coming to the kitchen window to see why the butcher birds are always hanging out there.

The kookaburras a by far the dominant species and when they come to the window like this, we always end up with the butcher birds inside as they fly away from the approaching kookaburras.

There is an iconic café in Brisbane called the "Kookaburra Café". Great pizzas (made with real kookaburras. LOL not really, just great pizzas - no kookaburra)
They are so beautiful! Sitting there patiently waiting. Fav

Ha ha, I bet the butcher bird wishes that the pizzas were made with real kookaburras.

The technical aspects of this one are not quite in line and of the quality of your prior shot, but still quite good! They look so unimposing!

Nice to know someone who knows about these birds. As a child we sang a song about them, "Kookaburra sitting on an old gum tree, eating all the gumdrops he could see . . ."
