Our first night on the road was at Rainbow Beach, about 3 1/2 hours north of Brisbane and just about the most idyllic place ever. It is a bit off the beaten track and consequently is far less busy than you would expect, just lots of European backpackers who wander around looking as if they have finally found paradise.
We went down to a still water boat ramp to watch the sun set and this dolphin was cruising around looking for fish scraps from fishermen. Unfortunately for him, there weren't any.
