Perhaps this is not unusual in long legged wading birds but I have certainly never seen this before.

@peterlgrave Yeah, I 've just been reading about it Peter. I have never noticed it before (dumbkopf!!) The knobbly bit in the middle of their leg is actually their ankle. You live and learn
