Until this morning, this particular pair of lorikeets have not been around much recently. When they are, they have no hesitation in coming to the window looking for a treat of some sort - in this case apple. I am fairly sure that they are the alpha couple of the flock that bully the other birds in the yard - cockatoos, galahs and other lorikeets. The light wasn't too good so I used the flash and was very pleased with the result. This is SOOC - not even cropped.
Gorgeous image, love the detail in the feathers. We have flocks of them in our eucalypts when in blossom. So much activity amongst the leaves and branches :-)
I could see a hundred pictures of these birds and I'm sure that each time I'd think "Wow, what color!" It's cool that you know your visitors so well as to be able to identify the rulers of the realm.
@gigiflower@lhiphonesnaps@j44@lyndemc@tracelee@tonydebont@thresheg@tellefella@hermann@digitalrn@jetpics@gigiflower Thank you everyone. We do tend to get a bit blaze with the lorikeets around all the time. One thing that has come out of 365 is now that I am always looking for photo opportunities, I probably more pay more attention to them and am more appreciative of their antics. And yes Sam I was very close, no more than about 2 feet. I actually missed a very good pic. The first time the flash went off, one bird took off (returned straight after) but the other fell backwards and was left hanging off the sill by his feet with just his head sticking up above it. I was too busy laughing to think about taking a photo
