Birds I Don't Like:
I've been pushed into naming the number 1 bird on my birds I don't like list early so here it is. We call them a Scrub Turkey but it is also called a Bush Turkey. But whether you say bush or scrub, it is usually preceded by a number of strong expletives.
The yellow wattle on his neck tells us this is a male - a fairly young one I think as it is not that big yet.
We wage a constant war with these in the back yard as they can (and have) destroy a garden in very short time.
I'm glad to read the why of your dislike- because to just look at him he's quite pretty. But obviously a bit destructive which definitely puts him out of the good guy status.
Well, THAT commentary made me LOL, which scared the Kelly the Grey parrot who was sitting on the desk beside me. With the size of feet this almost-homely character has, I can imagine it would take very little time to do some major damage to a yard, so easy to see why you loathe this bird so much. He wouldn't be a welcomed site in my yard either in that case. Where did you happen to find this one? Interesting, that they have such brilliant colors on their heads and necks. Well I thought it was a Turkey and glad I read your commentary. It was quite entertaining and humorous. Looks like he has a bow tie around his neck. And not a pretty face. But it is a great picture of a bird you don't like.
Great shot, it looks as though it has been partly plucked already. they aren't the prettiest of birds are they. As we don't get them in our garden they don't bother me too much, but I can see that they would be quite destructive.
Thanks for finally sharing -I was really wondering what would be No 1! But I did have to laugh reading through all the comments above - most seem to think it's quite a cute bird!! I'm guessing they like sunshine as there aren't any down here. PS - it's a good photo :)
