Joey Possum

I posted a pic of one of our possums back on 14 Aug. On that night, the mother with her baby (joey) in the pouch was also down but I couldn't get a clear shot of the pouch so I left her out expecting that I would be able to get a better shot later.
Every night since then we have been watching for her. We have seen her a couple of times but she has never been close enough to photograph.
Then about 3 nights ago we saw her but the joey was on her back, not in her pouch - and I was still not able to get a decent shot.
Then last night, there was the joey sitting in the middle of the back yard looking like a startled rabbit. Quickly grabbed a couple of shots before it appeared to come to its senses and took off into the night garden.

What a pic! Looks like you definitely caught this little one unprepared for his paparazzi moment. (My son just asked if this was a cat and when I told him it was an Australian possum he responded with a "They're much cuter there.)
