In spring, we first get the multi coloured Bougainvilleas, followed by the lilac Jacarandas, then the red Illawarra flame trees and then the best of them all, the Poincianas.
They are all just coming in to "flower" now and they are a truly magnificent tree.
These ones here at Indooroopilly are still quite young. They are a native of Madagascar.
Best on black
These are such beautiful trees. I love that there are several of them in this shot. We have them here but usually only as a specimen tree.. So e years they produce lots of flowers then some years not quite as many flowers. Fav
Lovely Poppo, I wish we could grow these beauties. I can manage the Flame Trees, Jacarandas and Silky Oaks but it is too cold for the Poinciana. Fav :)
@888rachel Ha Ha Sorry about that Rachel.
I said in my description that the suburb where I think the best trees are (Chelmer), are not out yet and I have been hanging out for them to flower properly for a couple of weeks now. But I thought that if I didn't hurry up and get something up soon, someone else would beat me to it.
So yesterday I drove around Indooroopilly and ended up at the golf course. The Zillmere tree shot I took on Wednesday while over at our son's place and it wasn't fully out either. It seems as if the small trees flower earlier than the older larger ones.
I'm going to keep checking out Chelmer and maybe post a shot of some of the huge old trees from there.
@bella_ss They all do seem to be particularly good this year Sheralee. Mind you, because of 365, I am noticing my surroundings much more this year so they could have been great the last 10 years for all I know. :-)
