Royal Spoonbill by terryliv

Royal Spoonbill

Still at Palm Meadows and this Royal Spoonbill was feeding in one of the many waterways on the course.
The unusual bill allows the bird to forage for its food in deep, muddy water. Using the sensitive tip of its bill, the Spoonbill feels for its food as it walks through the water, sweeping its bill from side to side. When it detects a small creature it is quickly grabbed and swallowed.
Fantastic shot. It appears to be illuminated by something in the sky. We used to have a big shiny thing in the sky, but I haven't seen it for some time.
