Lake Eyre Encore by terryliv

Lake Eyre Encore

We were lucky enough to be able to fit in a second visit to Lake Eyre - WooHoo!!!! Apparently not that common.

This was at Halligan Bay in the south west of the lake. It was still a bit muddy after the last time the lake filled. That is salt on the top.

See the background to this series of postings at http://365project.org/terryliv/365/2015-08-12
Interesting shot. How long ago did it last fill?

It looks like the craters on the moon!

Ha! I was going to say it looked like the surface of the moon, and I see Pam has already said it!

That is such an expanse of nothingness. Amazing.

Terry, I am quite worried about Margaret Pengelly. I left her a message, and she hasn't responded. I don't know if you know of anyone who knows her personally that you could inquire about her. She has been silent for a month and a half now. On a lighter note, Charlie and I are watching the Anzac Girls series. As far as I know, it did not air in the US, but we are watching it on DVD.

@cejaanderson Hi Jane, No I don't know of anyone who knows or lives close to Margaret. Boyne Valley is a rural community about 600kms from Brisbane. As you have probably noticed, I have not been as heavily involved in 365 as in past years and hadn't noticed her absence.
I have looked up her phone number though so if we need to we can call her to see if she is OK.
I didn't see the Anzac Girls series when it was shown here in 2014. At that time, I was probably too busy keeping up with 365. Is it any good? I have a certain "cringe factor" built in to me when it comes to Australian TV shows

Thank you for your reply, Terry. I looked up Margaret on FB (thanks to your hint of Boyne Valley), and though her page is little used, her friends (children and grandchildren I suppose) with the same last name have current ones with no mention of any news about Margaret, so I am able to not worry now. We are liking the Anzac Girls very much. The acting and sets are wonderful, so I have no idea what you mean about Australian TV shows (because this is the only one I've seen). I have an interest in women in war because I am a retired history teacher. My students used to perform a play about women in Vietnam, and I've recently read "Angela's War" about women serving with the special forces in Afghanistan. So, I don't know if you would like it or not, but I certainly do because of my interest in the human side of war, women's lives, nursing in general, and Australia. One thing that I'm noticing is the way the Anzac nurses were treated like 2nd-class nurses by the British ones.
