I know I said on 02 Mar that the blue faced honeyeaters were the bottom of the pecking order but every now and then they gang up on the lorikeets as they try to get a feed. Today there was a battle royale between these 2 lorikeets and 4 honeyeaters. It went on for quite a while with the honeyeaters winning sufficient rounds to get a feed.
Everything was working against me here. It started very quickly and I had little time to think about settings, it was raining, it was quite dark, I was shooting with a 300mm lens and there was a lot of very fast action. I took a number of shots of the fight and some of them are just a blur of colour as the birds tussled for possession of the feed. I thought the whole thing was interesting enough to disregard the photographic merits for a look at the antics of the birds.
